How to Revise for an Exam in 3 Days (Without Losing Your Mind)

Notebook Studio TeamSeptember 10, 20261 min read

A calm, hour-by-hour plan for the 72 hours before an exam - built around what the evidence says works when time is short.

Three days is not enough time to learn a subject from scratch, but it is plenty of time to structure what you already know. The goal shifts from understanding to retrieving reliably under pressure.

Day 1 - Build the skeleton

  1. List every topic that can appear (use the syllabus, not the textbook)
  2. Ask your notebook for a one-page summary per topic
  3. Mark the two or three topics you genuinely don't get

Your instinct will be to start with what you enjoy. Don't. Start with the weakest topics while you still have energy.

Divide the plan into skeleton, practice and review days.

Day 2 - Practice, then practice again

Turn your strongest topics into quizzes and your weakest into worked examples. Do them closed-book - the point is to find the gaps, not to feel good.

Day 3 - Walk the whole exam

Simulate the real thing once: timing, no notes, one sitting. Then spend the evening on a light review and an early night. The sleep is doing real work.

“Calm beats clever in the last 72 hours. Structure your days, protect your sleep and trust the practice you've done.”
